What is Royal Family KIDS Camp?
Royal Family KIDS Camp is a one-week summer camp experience designed specifically for children ages 6–12 who are in the foster care system or have experienced abuse, neglect, or abandonment. The camp offers a safe, fun, and nurturing environment where kids are encouraged to build self-esteem, trust, and lasting positive memories.

Who is eligible to attend the camp?
Children must be between the ages of 6 and 12 and currently in foster care, kinship care, or have a documented history of abuse or neglect. Campers are typically referred by social workers, foster parents, group homes, or court-appointed advocates.

How do I refer a child to camp?
Referrals can be submitted through a designated application process provided by the local Royal Family KIDS Camp chapter. You can request an application through Mesa Church or the local camp director. All applications require detailed background information and emergency contacts.

Is there a cost to attend?
No, the camp is offered completely free of charge to qualifying children. All funding is provided through donations, sponsorships, and church support to ensure every child has the opportunity to attend.

What types of activities are at camp?
Campers enjoy a wide variety of activities including swimming, hiking, archery, woodshop, crafts, games, talent shows, birthday parties, and more—all geared toward helping them feel special and loved in a safe, structured setting.

Who supervises the children?
Each child is paired with a dedicated adult volunteer (referred to as a "counselor"), and there is a very low camper-to-staff ratio. All volunteers undergo extensive background checks, interviews, and training to ensure the highest level of safety and care.

Where is the camp held?
The specific location is kept confidential for the safety and privacy of the children. However, it is typically held at a nearby camp facility with all necessary amenities. Transportation is often arranged through the hosting church or organization.

How do I volunteer to help with camp?
Volunteers must complete an application process, attend mandatory training, and pass background checks. Roles include counselors, activity leaders, medical staff, logistics, and prayer support. Reach out to Mesa Church or your local RFK chapter for details.

What should my child bring to camp?
A packing list will be provided upon acceptance. It includes clothes, toiletries, and other personal items. If a child does not have what they need, camp staff will work to ensure they are fully equipped for the week.
